Sport Competition

I don’t play football.

I’m not a football fanatic or a staunch supporter of any team.

I just love to watch football games.

In fact, I enjoy watching sport competition.

I love to see their goal-oriented approach.

I love to see their team work and group mentality.

I love to see their enthusiasm to do a good job in a safe way.

I love to see their national spirit and commitment, and their dedication to their nation.

I love to see their skills, talent and passion for the game.

Some said games are simulation of the various activities in real life.

I think there are some truths in it.

But sometimes sport competitions are just too physical and less talent oriented.

And I don’t like to see people get hurt, or people who intentionally hurt others.

I also don’t like to see the dirty tricks, techniques and tactics.

I just want a fair game.

I love FIFA World Cup 2010 thus far.

May the best team win.

Another Day, Another Struggle

It was my fourth round jogging, with steadier but slower paces.

But breathing had become heavier and heartbeat faster.

It had been our daily routine in the late afternoon for many weeks.

Standing well over 6’ and weighing over 120 kg, the immense weight of my body had taken its toll on my feet. Both of my feet had become swollen. And I was a little panicked.

Frequent massages did help to soften and soothe the feet.

But I was getting impatient when I realized that my leather shoes were getting tight again.

Soon I might be in need of a pair of bigger size shoes.

Big size shoes are very difficult to buy in small town.

Specially tailored shoes can only be found in the city.

Besides, the frequent requests for bigger size shoes from salesgirls often draw unnecessary attention, secret smiles and laughter, causing even more shame and embarrassment.

I finally made up my mind to do consistent jogging exercises.

Jogging and walking around the big man-made lake of our small town had been our initial plan.

Then my wife and I decided to walk round the town.

Then we walked up and down certain rough and uneven terrain in the town.

But the distance, the dense traffic, the curious onlookers and the scorching heat of the afternoon sun sometimes did put us off.

Lately we had found a nice spot for our jogging exercise.

It was a quiet road under the double lane tarred bridge moving up to the man-made lake.

Both ends have a slope, a gentle slope and a steep slope; and there are many shady spots.

Vehicles are few and the surrounding is cool with beautiful landscape and a quiet river beside.

Moving into my fifth round, panting like a thirsty dog, I persevered and smiled to my wife who jogged in the opposite direction.

My back began to ache, and my sweat dripped thick and fast, and my slow paces finally came to a halt. No, I must not give up too easily.

I started to walk with big strides, regulated my breathing, cleared all my sweat, and regained my confidence. Another 5 rounds, I told myself, this time walk with big stride.

It was an hour later that we called it quit.

We finally finished our intended quest.

Another day, another struggle.

Keep Smiling And Have A Wonderful Day

My Friends,

If you want something you never had,

Do something you have never done.

Don't go the way life takes you,

Take life the way you go.

Remember you are born to live,

And not live because you are born.

Sometimes prayers doesn’t change the situation,

It changes our attitude towards situation,

And it gives us hope to change our entire life.

Happiness always looks small if you hold it in your hands,

But when you learn to share it,

You will realize how big and precious it is.

Wish you a great day ahead!

Life is 10% what you make it, and 90% how you take it.

Keep smiling and have a wonderful day.

This life is too short even to love.

I don't know how people find time to hate.

Sigh!

Walking Around Town

It took me and my wife almost an hour to complete our round around our small town yesterday.

Normally it would only take us 40-45 minutes.

We looked at one another and laughed heartily.

It was a good start for us after laying off jogging six months ago.

Laziness causes obesity and obesity is bringing in more laziness.

We started to enjoy going around town in our van, slowly doing our shopping, eating and sightseeing.

Without realizing it, we had laid off the exercise for so long.

Now that we are back, it’s time to work on our speed, distance, and workout.

It is fun to walk around small town like ours again.

We have met many friends and friendly people. There is lots of waving of hands, greetings, smilings and encouraging or admiring expressions.

We sweat very easily and profusely walking up and down the hills, turning the corners and balancing on the uneven terrain.

And sometimes the sudden weather changes do add some color to our mood. The cool breezes, the scorching sun, the drizzles or sudden intermittent rains, they are just wonderful; but not the lightning and the thunder.

We are very happy on our progress and we talked along our way as we were near home.

We are looking forward for more in the coming weeks.

Nothing is impossible if we put our mind and heart together, and work towards it.

Suddenly I am excited and hooked to walking around town again. LOL

They've My Number

How do they get hold of my hand phone number? My colleague asked.

She was getting unsolicited text and picture messages on her mobile phone and she was frustrated. You could virtually hear her scream a distance away.

She couldn't delete the messages without opening it, and she suspected she was charged for the messages received!

Many people are like her, feeling very irritated when they receive obscene messages and pictures, clever sales tricks, scary and creepy chain messages…….. you name it.

Technology has indeed advanced throughout the years at an extraordinary pace. But privacy, morality and ethics have slowly been compromised and erased.

The world has advanced; some people are making money through all these tricks and traps. Innocent and ignorant people like us are victims. Without knowing it, after a few clicks here and there, we end up paying.

These people just know how to trick us and make easy money through us.

The relevant authorities have come out with various measures to curb the misuse of mobile phone, such as the need to register every hand phone. But these people just know how to register with fake ID.

I wonder how evil people have triumphed these days.

Of course, there are good Samaritans out there who always have good and loving messages for everyone. They always fill our lives with wonder.

Now back to the story.

How do they get hold of my hand phone number?

Maybe the lady needs to buy a new sim card and enjoy her short moment of rest.

I sigh and laugh.
