We Are That Somebody

Some of us are born lucky.

We are born into a well-off family.

We are born smart and talented.

We have supportive, enthusiastic and committed parents and elders, who are always looking after us and our future.

Some of us are very disciplined, well-motivated, and well-behaved.

In fact, we are well-groomed for the needs of the time.

We are respectful, courteous, friendly, and responsive.

We become the pride and joy of our family.

And we cultivate wide circles of acquaintances and friends.

Some of us are born very pretty and natural,

We don't need to put on a lot of make-up,

And we look so attractive, appealing, and sweet.......

*******

But majority of us are born not that lucky,

Not very smart,

Not very well-off,

Not very talented,

And... not very pretty.

Nevertheless, we are happy,

And we try to be happy all the time.

******

Somehow everyone of us knows that we are born unique and special.

We are born to be...... Somebody.

And as children, we want to be that Somebody when we grow up.

No, no. We never want to be born nobody.

No, no. We never want to live as a nobody.......

*******

We examine our gifts and talents God has given us.

They are here for a purpose - to make us Somebody.

We are going to use our gifts and talents to the fullest,

And become somebody everyone is proud of.

We are that somebody!

God willing.... We want to be that Somebody soon!

We are not lucky.

We are blessed!

We are that Somebody!

A Simple Man Is A Happy Man

A simple man is happy with who he or she is, and is contented with who the others’ may be.

A simple man strives to be happy, though he or she may not be as wise or as smart, as loving and caring, as committed and hardworking, as precise and careful, or as patience and self-reliance.

A simple man is satisfied with what he or she has, and is always seeking to make a better use of everything.

I once had an old landlord who was living a simple life. There was this one time when I ‘borrowed’ her age-old kitchen utensil to cook noodle. I was in a hurry to go for my lecture and forgot to scrub the utensil properly. When I returned home, the good landlord was showing her sad and angry face, and refused to talk. I realized my fault and reminded myself to be very careful the next time.

Some of us are very particular with the things we have; we must make sure we return the things we have borrowed to the right place in a good condition.

But then there is another lady. She has difficulty throwing away things; everything is so precious to her and she wants to have a collection of everything. Her house was a mess, a breeding place for rats, cockroaches, houseflies and mosquitoes. Her neighbors have a hard time living with her.

Everyone is entitled to live their life their way.

But we must make sure that we don’t become a burden or nuisance to others.

A simple life makes a happy man.

A simple man is happy with himself or herself.

A simple man is contented and utilizes all that he or she has.

And a simple man lives in peace and harmony with all others.

It is never easy to live a simple life in a word filled with many attractions and temptations.

Many of us want to be a happy man.

But just how many of us can be a simple man?

For some, happiness is short-lived, a thrill for a moment.

For some, happiness is forever, a lifetime to remember.

Everyone seeks happiness, but not many seek a simple lifestyle.

A simple man is a happy man.

How about a happy man is a simple man?

There is No Second Chance in Life

The Secrets of Old Age:

  • Before middle age – Do not fear!
  • After middle age – Do not regret!

Enjoy your life while you can.

Do not wait until you cannot even walk, just to be sorry and to regret.

As long as it is physically possible, visit places you wish to visit.

When there is an opportunity, get together with old classmates, old colleagues and old friends.

The gathering is not just about eating; it’s just that there is not much time left.

Money kept in the banks may not be really yours; when it is time to spend, just spend, and treat yourself well as you’re getting old.

Whatever you feel like eating, just eat! It is most important to be happy.

Food which are good for health – eat often and more - but that is not everything.

Things which are not good for health – eat less but once in a while. Do not abstain from them totally.

Treat sickness with optimism, whether you are poor or rich,

Everyone has to go through the birth, aging, sickness and death.

There is no exception, that’s life.

Do not be afraid or worried when you are sick.

Settle all the outstanding issues before hand.

And you will be able to leave without regret.

Let the doctors handle your body,

God handles your life and loves you,

But be in charge of your own moods.

If worries can cure your sickness, then go ahead and worry.

If worries can prolong your life, then go ahead and worry.

If worries can exchange for happiness, then go ahead and worry.

Our kids will make their own fortune.

Look after four old treasures:

  • Your old body – pay more attention to health. You can only rely on yourself on this.
  • Retirement funds – money that you have earned. It is best to keep them yourself.
  • Your old companion – treasure every moment with your other half. One of you will leave first.
  • Your old friends – seize every opportunities to meet up with your friends. Such opportunities will become rare as time goes by.

With friends, everyday you must laugh, dance and be happy.

Running water does not flow back.

So is life, make it happy!

Enjoy every moment of your life.

There is no second chance in life.

I Wish You Enough!

I received the following story through an e-mail and I want to pass it on.......

Recently I overheard a Father and a Daughter in their last moment together at the airport.

They had announced the departure.

Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the Father said, "I love you, and I wish you enough."

The Daughter replied, "Dad, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough too, Dad."

They kissed and the Daughter left.

The Father walked over to the window where I was seated.

Standing there I could see he wanted and needed to cry.

I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed me in by asking, "Did you ever say goodbye to someone, knowing that it would be forever?"

"Yes, I have," I replied. "Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever goodbye?"

"I am old, and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is − the next trip back will be for my funeral," he said.

"When you were saying goodbye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough.' May I ask what does that mean?"

He began to smile. "That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone."

He paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and he smiled even more.

"When we said, 'I wish you enough’, we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them."

Then turning toward me, he shared the following as if he were reciting it from memory.

"I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear."

"I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more."

"I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting."

"I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger."

"I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting."

"I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess."

"I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final goodbye."

He then began to cry and walked away.......

*******

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but an entire life to forget them.

To all my friends and loved ones, I WISH YOU ENOUGH.

Just To Say Hello

I received some nice sayings from a friend and I pass it on.

Do you know what is family?

Do you really understand what is behind the word family?

It will give us a shock when we know the answer:

FAMILY

Father And Mother, I Love You

Why does a man want to have a WIFE?

Because:

W---Washing
I---Ironing
F---Food
E---Entertainment

Why does a woman want to have a HUSBAND?

Because:

H---Housing
U---Understanding
S---Sharing
B---Buying
A---and
N---Never
D---Demanding

Do you know that a simple "HELLO" can be a sweet one, especially from our loved ones?

The word HELLO means:

H=How are you?
E=Everything all right?
L=Like to hear from you
L=Love to see you soon!
O=Obviously, I miss you

Please do say HELLO to everyone you care.
