The Lord Is My Portion

“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!”
- Lamentation 3: 24 -

The Lord is my portion.

The Lord Himself makes up the sum total of my soul's inheritance. Within the circumference of that circle lies all that we possess or desire.

The Lord Himself has chosen us for His portion, and we have chosen Him for ours.

The Lord is our all-sufficient portion.

God is all-sufficient in Himself.

He must be all-sufficient for us.

All that we can wish for is to be found in our divine portion.

Let us rejoice in the Lord always.

Let us show to the world that we are a happy and blessed people.

In Christ Only

"I will stretch out My hand against Judah, And against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. I will cut off every trace of Baal from this place, The names of the idolatrous priests with the pagan priests-- Those who worship the host of heaven on the housetops; Those who worship and swear oaths by the LORD, But who also swear by Milcom; (Zephaniah 1:4-5)

There are believers who think they are safe because they are with both parties: they are followers of Christ, and bow at the same time to other gods.

But duplicity is abominable with God, and God hates hypocrisy.

The penalty pronounced here is terrible, but it is well deserved.

How can divine justice spare the sinner, who knows the right, approves it, and professes to follow it, and all the while loves the evil, and gives it dominion in his heart?

Let us search ourselves today, and see whether we are guilty of double-dealing.

Do we truly love Jesus? Is our heart right with God?

Christ will be all or nothing.

God fills the whole universe.

There is no room for another god.

There is no space for another reigning power.

Let us rest alone on Jesus crucified, and live alone for Him.

Handle With Care

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God,
a worker who does not need to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the Word of truth.
- 2 Timothy 2:15 -

Many have tried to mishandle the message of the Bible. They make it support what they believe is true instead of allowing God to speak His true message to them.

Some have used the Bible to defend one side of an issue. Others have used it to attack the same issue. They both quote from the Scriptures to support their views. They cannot both be right.

It is important for us to say exactly what the Scriptures say. We are not to mishandle the Word, nor are we to misrepresent it.

Paul challenged Timothy, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15).

Let us accurately interpret God’s Word.

Let us represent God’s Word in ways that genuinely reflect God’s heart.

Handle the Word with care.

Our Heavenly Father

This, then, is how you should pray: "Our Father in heaven..."
- Matthew 6:9 -

This is how we must pray: we are to direct our prayer to God the Father.

Since He is our God, we are to worship Him, and Him alone. We are to submit to all His teachings. We are to serve Him all our lives. And we are to hallow His Name. We are to seek His Kingdom and build His Church. We are to wait patiently for the Coming of His beloved Son while doing all His bidding.

Since God is our Father, we are to honor Him and and respect Him. We are to hold Him in the highest esteem. We are to fear Him. We are to bring glory to Him. We are to call on Him and be intimate with Him to hear and listen what He is saying and be obedient to it.

Since God is in Heaven, He is all powerful. He is all seeing. He is all knowing. He is sovereign and in full control over everything that happens. His will will be done. His Kingdom will be established in its fullness.

Thank God for being our Heavenly Father.

Contentment

I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.
- Philippians 4:11 -

At the time of this writing, Paul was in jail in Rome.

Charged with sedition, treason, and other crimes, he had appealed to the highest court: Caesar himself.

He had to wait for his case to be heard.

Paul had the right to be impatient and unhappy.

But he told the Philippians that he had learned to be content.

He had learned to accept whatever came his way.

When we are faced with pains and difficulties, let us learn to trust God and be content.

Whatever comes our way is God’s choice!

Let us accept and rejoice in all He send.
