Dragging Our Loved One Along

This morning I saw a young lady dragging a little girl walking rather fast in front of a complex. I thought she could be in a hurry. I noticed the little girl was gasping for breath while trying very hard to follow beside. Once in a while, she would look up at the lady. But the lady just ignored her and walked on.

I wondered why the young lady didn't stop and carry the little girl, who must be very tired by then. Was it because of her beautiful makeup and clothing? Or was it because the little girl was too heavy for her?

I remembered sometime ago, I saw a young lady dragging an old woman walking rather fast by the side of the road. I noticed the young lady was grumbling and yelling at the old woman. The old woman just kept silent and followed along.

I wondered why the young lady had to do all these in front of a crowd of people. Didn't she know that many people were watching and listening? Didn't she know that the old woman was brought to shame at that very moment?

It has caused me great shame to see how some of us ill-treated our old folks and our little ones. We are so preoccupied with our own agendas that we care not about them. And we even humiliate them in front of a crowd of strangers.

I know that the young lady will cry and scream if the little girl or the old woman is injured along the way. But is it necessary to wait until that happens?

Humiliating our folks is too hurtful. I love my mother, she is now 64 years old, we take care about her. We supported her needs and we showed our love and affection with her by hugs and kisses. thanks for this post yeokee. I love all your entries.

Very sad when I see things like this. I try not to judge parents for being so impatient with their little ones since I am not a parent myself, but it seems sometimes they forget the little ones get tired and need a break or at least a slower pace. I always tried to be considerate when walking with my elderly parents who could not go as fast as I could. It was a bit frustrating, but still, at least I tried to slow down for them.

A sterling example of "Man's inhumanity to man"! I hate when I see things like that, but hate to voice my opinion to the abuser for fear they would take it upon themselves to blame the abused and do more harm! The only time I interfered was in a grocery store. The man had his child (probably about 18 months old) and the child was tired and whining. The man told his child to be quiet several times and when the child continued to whine, the man slapped him so hard he was actually stunned and then started screaming. I suggested that the man simply accelerated the problem by doing so and was told to "mind my own business"...which is what I did...I felt I had no other option since I didn't know the identity of the man.

sad but true, there are really people who don't seem to care about other people's feelings...until it's too late.

It's so sad to think that we sometimes abuse the most important people in our lives.
